PROJECT DESCRIPTION

We're an established, no-nonsense IT services consulting firm supporting one of the most attractive enterprise banking clients in the Baltics (think: complex business, real impact, visible stakeholders, Baltic-level initiatives). We're now looking for a mature, structured, business-minded Consultant to join the client's Payments & Accounts area.

Your mission: help their leadership make smart "go / no-go / later" decisions. You'll do this by turning fuzzy ideas into structured pre-analyses, building business cases with numbers that actually make sense, and preparing decision material that senior management can read in five minutes and act on.

This is not a junior analyst role. This is for someone who has already spent 5-7+ years in business development, management consulting, strategy, or project/business analysis and now wants to work closer to the business, with real stakeholders, with real deadlines.

Location: preferably Lithuania (Vilnius), but Latvia (Riga) or Estonia (Tallinn) can also work.

Very important: you must be able to work from the client office 2-3 days per week.

DO YOU HAVE (MUST-HAVE SKILLS)...

  • 5-7+ years of experience in one or several of these areas: business development, management consulting, strategic business analysis, project-based business analysis, or product/business portfolio planning - ideally in financial services, technology, or other complex B2B (business-to-business) environments.
  • Proven experience building business cases (including financial assumptions, scenario comparison, cost/benefit logic, and risk/constraint analysis) - not only filling in a template, but actually thinking it through.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills - able to structure unstructured input, ask "what are we really deciding here?", and turn it into a clear recommendation.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills - you know how to write an executive summary; you can explain numbers to non-finance people; you can present to senior stakeholders.
  • Experience preparing decision material for management - board-level, steering group, or senior leadership decks that are short, visual, and clear.
  • Stakeholder coordination experience (3-5+ years) - bringing together Product, Finance, Operations, and IT/Technology to validate assumptions and align on one version of the truth.
  • Self-driven, structured working style - you can pick up a topic, define scope, plan mini-pre-study, follow up on inputs, and deliver on time without being micromanaged.
  • Relevant university degree in business, economics, finance, management, or similar.
  • Availability to work on-site 2-3 days per week at the client office in the Baltic region (Lithuania preferred).

BONUS SKILLS...

(These are not required, but will make you shine.)

  • Experience in payments, accounts, or transaction banking domains.
  • Experience creating and maintaining templates, frameworks, and evaluation models for opportunity screening.
  • Experience in enterprise-level change / operating in a regulated financial institution.
  • Experience leading pre-studies or feasibility assessments (even small ones) where the outcome is a decision package.
  • Ability to translate common abbreviations into business language, for example:
    • KPI (Key Performance Indicator - a measurable value that shows how effectively a company is achieving key business objectives),
    • ROI (Return on Investment - a financial metric used to evaluate the profitability of an investment),
    • NPV (Net Present Value - the value of future cash flows discounted to today),
    • TCO (Total Cost of Ownership - the full cost of creating and running a solution over time).

ARE YOU WILLING TO...

  • Be the "first filter" for new ideas coming into the Payments & Accounts area - "Is this worth doing? What would it cost? Who needs to be involved?"
  • Collect data from different parts of the bank (Product, Finance, Strategy, Operations) and synthesize it into one version of the story.
  • Build structured business cases - with assumptions, options, dependencies, and financial view - so management can actually compare initiatives.
  • Drive and coordinate smaller, well-scoped initiatives (pre-studies, feasibility checks, opportunity assessments) - define scope, align stakeholders, track progress.
  • Continuously improve templates, processes, and formats so that 6 months from now the area decides faster and on better data.
  • Work like a consultant - clear communication, structured delivery, good documentation, proactive stakeholder management.
  • Come to the office 2-3 times per week to sit with the client team, join sessions, and stay close to the decision makers.

WHY THIS PROJECT?

  • Real influence. You're not writing analysis that no one reads. Your work will land straight on senior management's table and will be used for go/no-go and prioritization decisions.
  • Enterprise banking environment. It's a modern, Baltic-level, large-scale financial organization - stable, regulated, with interesting legacy vs. modernization topics - but still small enough regionally that you can see the whole picture.
  • Consulting-style work, but closer to the client. You get to use your consulting toolkit (structuring, storyline, business case logic, stakeholder alignment), but you're embedded, so you see implementation consequences.
  • Mature team to work with. You will collaborate with Product Management, Finance, Strategy, and Operations - people who understand numbers and impact.
  • Visibility. Payments & Accounts is a core banking area. The initiatives here are visible and relevant.
  • We've got your back. You join via our consulting firm - meaning you have us as your "home base", our standards, our delivery culture, and we help you navigate the client.
  • Hybrid, but real collaboration. The client wants people on-site 2-3 days per week - because decisions happen faster when people sit together. If you enjoy real stakeholder work, you'll like this setup.

If you recognize yourself in this description - structured, business-minded, good with numbers, good with people, and comfortable saying "here is the recommended option and why" - then this consulting assignment is built for you.
