We are seeking a skilled Engineering Manager with a passion for creating robust and scalable systems. In this role, you will directly shape the technical landscape of our domain registration and management systems, leading a team of exceptional developers. Your focus will be on ensuring the scalability, performance, and maintainability of one of the industry's largest domain registrars, managing over 5 million domains.

What You Will Do:

    • Architecture Design: Define and oversee the architecture of systems supporting domain registrations and management.
    • Code Review: Conduct regular code reviews to maintain code quality and standards.
    • Technology Stack: Stay updated on PHP and backend technologies, guiding the team in adopting relevant tools.
    • Team Management: Provide mentorship, allocate tasks, conduct performance evaluations, and lead the hiring process.
    • Collaboration: Work closely with other leads and team managers to ensure effective communication.
    • Project Management: Participate in planning, estimation, and timeline management.
    • Continuous Improvement: Identify areas for process optimization within backend development.
    • Problem Resolution: Lead the team in resolving technical challenges and act as a point of escalation.

What We Expect:

    • Experience: At least 5-10 years of hands-on developer experience and 2+ years in a leadership role.
    • Technical Expertise: Strong backend-focused engineering background with expertise in PHP, Laravel, Go, GCP (Google Cloud Services), MySQL, Memorystore, Redis, RabbitMQ, and Kubernetes.
    • Leadership: Strong leadership skills with a focus on fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
    • Soft Skills: Excellent communication skills, a proactive attitude, and a focus on results.
    • Production Operations: Good background in incident management, on-call practices, and applying observability tooling.
    • Project Management: Great project management skills for implementing complex multi-vendor backend/API integrations.
    • Curious Mind: A continuous learner who stays updated with the latest industry trends.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

    • Technical Stack Match: Specific experience with our technology stack (PHP, Laravel, Go, GCP).
    • Domain Knowledge: Good understanding of how domains technically operate.
    • CloudOps Experience: Previous hands-on work or leadership experience running cloud operations.
