Job purpose

Johnson Matthey IT (JM IT) is Johnson Matthey’s global IT function responsible for ensuring that our IT capabilities are not only able to support and integrate technologies but can also offer insight into future IT tools that could provide us with a competitive edge and improved operating efficiencies.

The SAP PtP Solution Specialist will be part of the SAP Platform team, reporting to SAP Platform Lead and working across JM SAP applications (ECC 6 / S4 Hana, EWM, IBP and others) together with other SAP Solution Specialists/Leads, extended SAP Platform team and external application support team(s) in managing “Procure-to-Pay” tasks, based on business requirements and priorities. The SAP PtP Solution Specialist will provide on-going support and management of the SAP business solution, leading it through to maturity and driving continuous improvement. The SAP PtP Solution Specialist will collaborate closely with SAP Solution Architect(s), Global and local Business Process Owners (GBPO and BPO) and other counterparts (internal and external) to ensure that SAP solution design is fit for purpose. Governance and control over third party solutions and services is a key part of this role.

Principal accountabilities:

  • Working together with JM internal staff and external teams to manage and maintain all SAP related systems.
  • Working with system end-user and SMEs from different functions to understand needs, challenges & objectives.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to understand their requirements and being responsible for translating business requirements into functional specifications for the technology solution / application.
  • Lead and provide support to the application management teams in solving incidents and problems.
  • Provide functional support to end-users when they experience major problems in working with applications. 
  • Support project deployments as well as continuous improvement activities by providing governance and support in technical solution design and systems’ configuration of the applications withing area of responsibilities.
  • Work with the change and release teams to ensure that systems and solutions are deployed effectively. 
  • Champion the integration of JM SAP Platform and SAP PtP best practices throughout the entire project lifecycle, from planning and design to implementation and ongoing maintenance.
  • Act as a gatekeeper for the SAP applications’ functional configuration by maintaining detailed technical knowledge of the systems configurations.
  • Be responsible for detailed solution documentation in line with JM IT engineering and architectural methodology to document overall applications configuration and new solutions for approval at review boards. 
  • Drive necessary changes in configuration of the applications required by technical design to fulfil JM business requirements.
  • Execute routinely checks of JM IT and external team’s deliverables to make sure that those are in line with JM standards and business requirements.
  • Act as SMEs of SAP Platform’s PtP processes who understands platform’s capabilities to resolve user needs, and who can assess the impact to the processes when changes are proposed.
  • Undertake troubleshooting of application issues and resolve the issues; liaison with the software providers in case the issue could not be resolved internally.  
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory compliances and adherence to audit findings; undertake improvements as required.

Key requirements:

  • 2+ years of hands-on SAP MM configuration and support experience.

  • Knowledge of other SAP modules (FI/CO, PP, SD, Master Data).

  • Familiarity with SAP Supply Chain applications (e.g., EWM, IBP, DMC).

  • Strong grasp of Procure-to-Pay (PtP) business processes.

  • Experience in SAP system support, governance, and continuous improvement.

  • Involvement in SAP deployments across project lifecycles.

  • Skilled in stakeholder engagement with IT, business, and third parties.

  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication abilities.

  • Experience working in global, cross-functional environments is a plus.
