We’re looking for a QA Automation Lead to join us at Telia.
I’m Santtu Päivärinta, Head of Quality and Automation, and I’m searching for someone ready to grow with us! We’re a supportive, forward-thinking team focused on enabling faster, safer releases through pragmatic QA and reusable automation.
What you’ll do:
You’ll define and drive a clear QA automation framework and ways of working that enable consistent testing, easy onboarding, and effective cross‑team support in a transforming environment.
• Develop shared Playwright-based standards for UI-first (and selected API) automation - covering structure, coding conventions, CI/CD integration, and scalability to multiple product teams;
• Create onboarding guides, reusable examples, helper libraries, and implementation plans that make it easy for QA engineers and new product teams to adopt automation consistently;
• Guide teams in implementing automation strategies - supporting SAFe ART workflows, promoting quality thinking, and helping squads improve throughout the software development lifecycle;
• Consult and coach QA engineers and developers on automation best practices - pairing to bootstrap tests, reviewing pull requests, and fostering a collaborative, learning‑oriented quality culture;
• Drive continuous improvement by establishing quality metrics, identifying bottlenecks, anticipating risks, and iterating on both framework and ways of working.
What will help you thrive in this role:
You balance hands‑on engineering rigor with coaching - bringing people with you while keeping solutions practical, maintainable, and scalable.
• Proven experience in leading QA automation initiatives across multiple product teams in large or transforming organisations, including hands-on work in software development, QA roles, and testing complex large-scale systems;
• Strong knowledge of modern UI-first test automation and supporting API testing using tools such as Playwright, Cucumber, TypeScript, GitHub Workflows, Jira/Xray, and related opensource technologies, as well as CI/CD practices, test design, coding standards, and quality metrics;
• Ability to coach without authority, collaborate across domains, communicate clearly with both technical and management stakeholders, anticipate problems, develop practical solutions, and support SAFe ART workflows with solid quality and technical competence;
• Fluency in English; additional Lithuanian/Swedish languages considered a plus.
