Junior Network Engineer Intern - paid internship

Are you a student, recent graduate, or changing careers and ready to start your journey in networking? Curious how large-scale datacenter networks work—and keen to explore network security, firewalls, cloud, and automation as you grow?  

Our Core Service Delivery, Data Center Networks and Security Teams are responsible for the development, operations, maintenance, lifecycle management, and capacity planning of Telia’s datacenter network infrastructure. We focus on stable, scalable, and secure network environments, and we invest time in mentoring junior engineers. Now we have a great opportunity, and we are looking for Network Engineer Trainees who want to learn, build strong foundations, and develop step by step with guidance from experienced engineers. 

Your internship will be based in Vilnius (office-first). We keep it student-friendly, with flexibility to support your studies (for example, around lectures, exams, and university schedules).

What you’ll do: 

• Support day-to-day operations of datacenter networks 

• Learn core networking fundamentals in real production environments and how monitoring and operational processes work in large networks 

• Assist with troubleshooting and incidents under senior guidance and with configurations, upgrades, patching, and documentation 

• Get hands-on exposure to Cisco platforms: ACI, IOS, IOS XR, NX-OS 

You will gradually gain exposure to network security basics and firewall concepts, secure network design and traffic segmentation practices, foundational cloud networking principles, and automation skills using Infrastructure as Code tools such as Python and Terraform.

• Student or recent graduate in IT, Networking, or a related field 

• Basic understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, routing, switching) 

• Strong interest in network engineering as a long-term career 

• Curiosity about network security, firewalls, and modern network technologies 

• Fluency in English
